One unique aspect of this year's MCC Ride is that we used a base camp which we departed from and returned to every day.  One of the best things about the camp was the food.

Von Hershberger volunteered to prepare the food this year.  Her profession happens to be catering and we soon found out why.  The food was excellent!  She prepared thirteen meals, fed 78 people at each meal (she cooked for 120, I guess we were pigs), and spent approximately $30.00 per person.   Each meal was made from scratch, involving 16-hour days for Von.  Her kitchen crew consisted of Marilyn, Jake, Nancy, Patricia, Monica, and Donna.  Here's a shot of them  in action.

Some additional statistics around food include:  30 lbs of Tuna, 30 lbs of Salmon, 100 lbs of flour (100 loaves of bread), 50 lbs of sugar, 30 lbs of butter, 2 gallons oil, 30 dozen eggs, 20 lbs bacon, 75 lbs hamburger, 32 gallons lemonade, 120 cinnamon rolls (not enough), 10 gallons of granola, and 1000 lbs of fruit plus 18 watermelons.   Dishes prepared included lasagna, tuna/salmon bar-b-que, spaghetti, and curried beef.

We also were glad to have along a bicycle mechanic.  Erik cheerfully spent several hours each evening fixing various bicycle maladies.  He was allowed to ride bike - sometimes - and I took a picture to prove it.  Erik was very good and tried very hard to fix everyone's mechanical problems.  Here's a shot of Erik getting his finger caught in a gear.  In real life, he works at a humane shelter.

We also can't forget the hard work of the organizing committee, Phil and Krista, Gwen, and Clark.  Somehow, they were able bring this whole ride together for a total cost of around $90 per person.  Of the $340 per person registration fee, $250/person was given to MCC.  Actually, we shouldn't forget that this was the whole point of the Ride.

Thanks to everyone for their hard work at making this venture a success.
