The first day we rode Orcas Island. The day's ride
was supposed to cover 45 miles. Unfortunately, several of us had difficulty
reading the map and so covered 50 or more miles. The scenery was beautiful
no matter which route we took.
The turnaround point in the morning was Deer Harbor,
where we snacked and rested before heading back. After a stomach gorging
lunch of spaghetti we then headed for Doe Bay. It was a nice 6 mile
downhill ride to get there which, of course, meant a 6 mile uphill ride to get
back to camp. Here's a shot of a good
looking couple that were at Doe Bay.
Since we were based on Orcas Island, on the days we headed to
the other island we
would either ride our bikes to the ferry
or transport them on Clark's bike trailer
.
